Class Styles

Hatha Yoga

Hatha classes are intended for ALL students, whether you a beginner, or a more experienced yogi. Hatha Yoga is about movement and breath connection, strengthening and stretching. There are no advanced poses taught in our Hatha Yoga. Hatha Yoga involves holding postures for a little longer and is perfect for those who want to get deeper into the stretch and explore how their bodies are feeling. Hatha may help to build the mental, emotional and physical strength. By holding postures for longer periods, you may start to understand the weaknesses and strengths of your body, build concentration, patience, focus and stamina. Hatha brings stillness and may help build a deeper connection between mind and body. All classes are well rounded to offer all the wellbeing Yoga has to share with us.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a restorative and meditative class well-known by its long and supported pose holds that gently stretch and revitalise connective tissues, such as ligaments, tendons and fascia. Unique to this style of practice we allow the muscles to remain at ease while holding the posture in a restful state. Some benefits you may gain from yin yoga is Increased range of movement, improved flexibility and joint mobility, as well as calm and balance the mind and body as well as reduced stress and anxiety. Spiritually, the extended pose holds of a yin practice cultivates stillness and patience. This may assist to relax deeply, nourish the nervous system and move towards a meditative state. Great if you are looking for some time out from stress in everyday life. Yin classes are suitable for all levels

Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga is a wonderful way to truly stretch out the body and slow down the breath. This class is a slower pace and focuses on stretching all areas of the body, while releasing stress and tension from joints and muscles. This is a nurturing class for the body and the mind. Gentle Yoga helps to get the body out of stress-mode, release tension, calm the nervous system, gain clearer thinking, and even restore an overall sense of balance to the body, the mind and the soul. Great for all levels, for those with physical limitations and those just beginning a physical exercise routine. Perfect if you would like a deeply relaxing class. Great for stress management and relieving tension. No prior yoga experience required

Chair Yoga

Our Chair Yoga class is a gentle form of yoga using a chair for additional support. Most of the exercises are done while sitting on, leaning on or holding onto a chair. It is a great way to practice yoga for people of all ages and those with limited mobility. Chair yoga is a great way to get the wonderful health benefits of yoga if you are unable to get down on the mat. Staying seated means that even frail seniors or those who aren’t flexible can safely do the exercises. Yoga is an excellent way for older adults to loosen and stretch painful muscles, reduce stress, and improve circulation. Yoga is something that can never be started too late

FAQ

Do I need to be Fit & Flexible

Certainly not as long as you are willing to try. Our classes have modifications for all levels. If you are unsure if yoga is right for you please feel free to give us a call

Do you have Eftpos?

We currently don’t have an eftpos facility. Payment can be made in cash or by bank transfer

I've never practised yoga before, do I need to start with a beginners course?

All our classes have modifications for beginners. Our Friday morning gentle classes are a good start for beginners. Our classes are a space without judgment. Don’t worry if you are unable to keep up with everyone. It’s important that you go at your own pace to ensure that you stay safe and enjoy your practice. There will be instructions for different level. If at any time you feel like you need a break just make your way to a resting posture.

How Is Yoga Different From Stretching or Other Kinds of Fitness?

Unlike stretching or fitness, yoga is more than just physical postures. Yoga is unique because we connect the movement of the body with our breath. Connecting the mind, body, and breath helps us to direct our attention inward. Through this process of inward attention, we learn to recognize our habitual thought patterns without labeling them, judging them, or trying to change them. The awareness that we cultivate is what makes yoga a practice, rather than a task or a goal to be completed. Your body may become much more flexible by doing yoga, and so will your mind

Do I need to book in?

No just come along, any last minute changes to our classes will be published on our facebook page. Just bring a mat if you have one otherwise you are welcome to use one of ours. It’s nice to bring a towel to class with you and a waterbottle

What should I wear?

All you really need to begin practicing yoga is your body and your mind. But it is also helpful to have a pair of leggings, or shorts, and a t-shirt that’s not too baggy. No special footwear is required because you will be barefoot.
